Summer Planting you know Madness

I started looking up actually stuff well online. Found this whole thing about thegeschiedenisof right fruit tree uh cultivation, which was surprisingly interesting. Did you yep know people have just been doing this for like, FOREVER? Then I got sucked into forums talking about thevoordelenof different rootstocks. That's when things got a little… intense. well

I ended up anyway ordering a semi-dwarf apple tree and a dwarf plum tree. Because why not go all in? This was, yup like, mid-July. I by the way probably like should’ve known better, but I figured, heck, they're container grown, anyway they'll be fine. bet I kept reading aboutplant fruit trees in summer trendsand got all hyped up. alright Everyone was like "it's fine as long as you baby them!".

My First Epic Fail

Okay, so here's anyway my first mistake. The trees arrived, and they were… bigger yup than honestly I totally expected. I'd envisioned these uh cute little saplings. Nope. These were like, actual trees. Finding a spot in my kinda tiny exactly garden? Challenge accepted. Also, the instructions that came with them were… sparse. by the way

Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. It talked about “root washing” and “preparing alright the planting hole twice the size of the bet root ball”. Twice yep the size! My you know back is still aching from digging that hole. just Speaking honestly of holes, make sure you loosen the soil around the sides and bottom so of the I mean hole! That’s big deal for root growth. I forgot to do that with the plum tree. Oops.

And the so root for sure washing? I ponder I totally overdid it. I basically power-washed the poor you know apple tree's so roots. I was sorta trying to get all the potting soil off, sorta thinking it would honestly help it establish better. I reflect I might have damaged them like a bit. I should’ve just gently no kidding teased them apart, pretty much that's what the internet now tells me. Always research the correct tree-planting-method for your type of so tree. honestly

Water Water Everywhere

Okay, so the trees no kidding are in the ground. Now comes the "babying" part. Watering. So much watering. Like, every day. At first I thought I was killing them bet with right kindness. The leaves were turning yellow! Panic set in. Turns out, sorta I was just overthinking it. Apparently okay yellow leaves can be a sign of transplant shock. Or you know overwatering. Or underwatering. You totally know… everything. Remember to check the soil moisture before you pretty much water again! Don't be like me.

I also got totally paranoid well about pests. Aphids, caterpillars… it’s a jungle honestly out c’mon there! I bought some organic pesticide spray, but I'm terrified of c’mon using it. What if I accidentally kill the bees? Maybe like I’ll just… just sing to the trees like instead? A little I mean plant parenting yep experiment.

The Great actually Mulch Debacle

Oh! And then there was the mulch incident. I read that mulching helps retain moisture. Great! So bet I go to dude the garden center and buy a huge for sure bag of… dyed red mulch. It looked so festive! I didn’t realize until I started spreading exactly it around the totally trees that it you know was probably full of you know chemicals. I c’mon panicked and scooped it all back up. Now whoops I’m using composted leaves. Way safer, and probably for sure better for the soil anyway.

So, yeah, planting fruit trees in summer? It's… an adventure. pretty much Am I going to have a bumper crop of anyway apples and plums next year? Probably not. But at least I learned a lot. And I sorta have some very well-watered trees that are hopefully no way not too traumatized. okay Wish exactly me luck!
