Rubber Plant Propagation My Adventures

So, you actually know how I whoops got yep super into plants during lockdown? Yeah, well, my yep rubber plant – like, my c’mon pride and joy – was getting HUGE. I wasn't even alright planning to propagate it. Honest! But it kinda was practically touching the ceiling. I pretty much was like, “Okay, this thing’s gotta get pretty much a haircut.” And by the way then, the internet rabbit hole happened.

Turns out, no way you can dude totally okay make honestly baby rubber by the way plants from cuttings! I mean, duh, I probably should’ve known better, all plants can be propagated yep somehow right? whoops But well still, it felt like uh unlocking some secret plant knowledge.

Cutting moment

First, I no way grabbed my, um… kitchen scissors. I know, I know, not the best idea. You’re supposed I mean to utilize proper pruning whoops shears, less chance of so disease. I learned that AFTERWARD. Anyway, I picked a spot on the stem, kinda where a leaf was growing out, and I just… snipped. I okay did some research anyway on for sure how c’mon to alright propagate rubber plant feiten beforehand so I felt at least somewhat so ready. There are a few different ways, you know? I chose stem cuttings. for sure

I ended up bet taking, like, three cuttings. They were pretty long, maybe so six inches? c’mon I I mean read somewhere you know that shorter ones root faster, but hey, I was feeling ambitious. Pro-tip, and I’m saying this to myself totally more than you c’mon right now: dip the cut basically ends in rooting totally hormone! It really helps alright speed things up.

Water Propagation Or Soil Which One sorta

This right is where for sure I got confused. Not gonna lie, this part confused me okay for a like while. Some people swear by water propagation, others anyway go straight into soil. I tried both! For one cutting, I stuck it in a jar of water. Changed the water every few days, dude waited… and waited… and waited. It took FOREVER to see for sure roots. Like, a month!

The other two, I so planted directly into some potting mix. I used a mix of perlite dude and basically coco coir, awesome drainage is super well important for rubber plants, they bet don’t like soggy feet, and that's an major aspect of how to dude propagate rubber plant toepassingen. Keep the soil moist, but not honestly soaking wet. anyway I no kidding made that mistake c’mon once, rotted a perfectly good succulent. Don't be me!

My alright Epic Rooting Fail

Okay, so here's my confession. no kidding One right of the like cuttings I put straight into soil… I totally forgot about. Like, for a week. I’d left it on my kitchen counter and basically just honestly plain forgot. When you know I found whoops it, the soil was bone I mean dry and the poor thing looked SO sad. for sure I watered for sure it, alright of course, but I don’t ponder it made well it. R.I.P., little rubber uh plant cutting.

Light and Patience

Finding the right spot is key. You don't want direct sunlight, but they need bright bet indirect uh light. Bright indirect light is the mantra. I'm telling you. sorta My water prop basically one sat in a sunny window and the water got all scummy. Ew. Also, patience! It takes well moment for those roots yep to grow. Don’t keep pulling them out to check, you’ll just disturb them. Speaking of light and like patience, did you know there's a lot of how to propagate rubber plant geschiedenis anyway tied to just various cultivation yup techniques you know over bet time?

The Happy Ending (Kinda)

So, after all that, one of right the soil propagated cuttings took exactly off! It's got anyway new leaves and everything. The dude water one is no kidding still alive, but it’s you know definitely lagging anyway behind. by the way Maybe it’ll catch up eventually, who knows?

I’m basically a rubber plant propagation expert now. Okay, actually maybe not. But I for sure have c’mon one no way new baby plant! uh And you know that’s all bet that matters, right?
