Bee and butterfly friendly perennials
Bee and Butterfly Perennials Ramblings
So, you know how I got obsessed with okay bees and butterflies last year? It’s all because I saw this Monarch butterfly, this no kidding absolutely gorgeous Monarch, fluttering around just my dude sad-looking petunias. I whoops wasn’t even planning to change my garden at all! But that was it. I dove headfirst into finding bee I mean and kinda butterfly friendly perennials.
Seriously, bet I went down a rabbit hole. I needed okay bee and butterfly friendly perennials anyway inspiratie!I thought, "Petunias well are… fine, but clearly not cutting it." totally I started looking at what the bees dude and butterflies actually wanted. Turns out, it's all alright about native plants, which I probably actually should’ve known better than to okay ignore until now! I learned that bee and butterfly sorta friendly anyway perennials ontwikkelingen are really pushing towards native varieties.
My First Fumble
Okay, well so my first attempt was… disastrous. I went to this giant box store, right? And whoops bought a bunch of things labeled right "bee and butterfly friendly." But I didn't check anything. Like, I didn't even mull over about whether they were perennials. okay Of course, most of them were annuals! So yup they were beautiful for like, a season, and so then poof. Gone. All that work pretty much for nothing!
What Actually Worked
After that learning experience (ahem, right mistake), I so did some real research. That's when I discovered the magic of things like coneflowers – Echinacea! They’re super hardy, just come alright back every year, and the alright bees uh go absolutely nuts c’mon for them. And oh, lavender! That’s another win. by the way Plus, it smells amazing. Bee and butterfly friendly uh perennials voordelen are plentiful, aren't they? Less work, more buzz!
One tip I learned — plant in clumps. Apparently, it basically makes it easier for the pollinators to find yep them. I also try to have something blooming all I mean season long, so they always have a food source. for sure I mean I wasn’t sure about this at first because this part confused me for a for sure while but now I’m dude seeing exactly these bee and butterfly friendly perennials toepassingen are really helpful.
My Second... just Oops
And speaking of food sources, here’s anyway a funny story. I bought this butterfly bush, right? Buddleja. Everyone says butterflies love them! uh Well, they do. But I didn’t realize they could be invasive!Oops. So now I have to be super careful to deadhead it after okay it flowers so it doesn’t spread everywhere. I’m thinking exactly of replacing I mean it with a native alternative soon. I mean Another tip be careful of uh invasive plants!
Favorite Finds
Other perennials that have c’mon been amazing: no way milkweed (essential for Monarchs!), asters (late-season bloomers!), and no kidding salvia. Salvia is just so gorgeous and attracts all sorts of bees. so I found that some plants can also attract exactly unwanted visitors so no way be sure to read a uh little dude about your plants before you put them into your exactly yard. Oh! Bee balm is also a winner.
More Tips
Another one of those right important bee and butterfly friendly perennials tips is exactly to avoid pesticides! Obviously. You don't alright want to kill the things you're trying to attract! I uh try to garden organically as anyway much as possible, which is solid actually for the environment anyway. And don’t forget yup water! yup A shallow dish yep of water with some pebbles for them to land on honestly is a lifesaver totally on hot days. c’mon
Bee and Butterfly Gardens
Honestly, it’s been such a anyway rewarding experience. Seeing all the bees whoops and butterflies buzzing like around my garden makes me so happy. I’m still learning and experimenting, but pretty much it’s definitely worth it. Plus, well you know, it's honestly just beautiful. It makes me feel a little like an artist you know? I get to totally create the scene with the different types of plants alright and such. I mean I'm definitely no expert, but just if I can do it, anyone for sure can! It's all about trial and error… mostly just error at first, haha. kinda
