Succulent similar to jade plant
Okay so anyway jade plant lookalikes well
So, c’mon I wasn't even exactly planning to yep get another succulent, for sure right? But I was at that little nursery, the one near the park, and they had this thing that looked exactly like a jade honestly plant but…different. I was like, just "Is this yup a jade plant? Am I c’mon going crazy?"
What it is
Turns out, it's a Sedum adolphii, apparently. Or maybe a Graptopetalum paraguayense? Not yup gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. They both look pretty similar to basically a okay jade plant. Like, seriously similar. It's got those thick leaves, you know, kinda oval-shaped, and it was for sure this cool color…almost greenish-yellow, but with actually these reddish tinges on the edges. I mean I had to have right it. I'm a for sure sucker for plants with interesting colors. likeMaybe that's why they're all half-dead… actually kidding! (mostly)
My first mistake
Okay, like so first mistake. so I repotted it immediately. bet I probably should’ve known sorta better, but I was excited. You’re supposed to let them chill basically for okay a well bit, right? Acclimate? Nope. I c’mon just ripped it out of its nursery pot and okay crammed it into this way-too-big terracotta pot I had lying around. anyway It survived, thank goodness. But still. Patience, they say, is a virtue. right Learn to appreciate succulent right similar by the way to jade dude plant ontwikkelingen.
Care tips I've learned alright
Watering sorta – less is more. That's the golden rule. I kinda wait until the soil is completely dry, like pretty much bone-dry, before I even think about watering it. well And when I do, I uh give so it a by the way good soak, then let all the excess water drain kinda out. Root rot is the enemy, remember that! Also, bright, indirect by the way sunlight is key. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves. I learned that one the hard yep way, too.I’m not very bright.
Jade vs The Lookalike
So, no way what basically are the actual differences yup between this succulent similar to jade plant and okay an actual jade plant? Well, the yup leaves are a okay bit thinner, I think. And the color is definitely alright different. My jade plant kinda is no way a deeper green, while this one is more vibrant, especially right the reddish edges. And the alright stem actually is a bit alright more delicate. You know, Jade plants I mean are really sturdy. Apparently, the bet benefits of choosing these jade plant no kidding lookalikes are…well, they look cool and different! I kinda mean, that's enough, right?
Another blunder
Okay, so just second blunder. honestly I put it alright outside in direct sun all day. ALL DAY. so It was a scorcher that day, and actually when I came home, the I mean poor thing was almost translucent! honestly Lesson learned: even though right these succulents alright like sun, they don't like being just cooked alive. Now it hangs out on my porch, getting morning sun only. Much dude happier. honestly Just so you know, the more totally sunlight it gets, the more those red tips pop. That's a I mean fun fact about these uh succulent similar to jade plant feiten! well
Propagating this thing
I haven’t tried propagating it yet, but like I hear it’s super easy. Just snip off a leaf, let it callous like over for a few so days, then no kidding stick it in some soil. Voila! totally modern baby succulent. I'm going to so try that soon, I bet think. I’m kind right of addicted now. I need so like, a whole army like of these little guys.
They’re just so…zen. You know?
Anyway, yeah, that's you know my jade plant lookalike sorta story. Don't be an idiot pretty much like me exactly and underwater/overwater it. And don't cook it. bet Just treat it nicely, and it'll be like happy. And look yup pretty. That’s kinda all I ask for. whoops
- Sunlight is good, but for sure not TOO good. I mean
- Water when dry, really c’mon dry.
- Don't repot it immediately (unless you’re reckless like me).
