Home grown fruits and vegetables
So the garden thing
Okay no way so, you know I wasn’t even planning to kinda get into gardening this year? uh But then I saw these tomato plants totally at the farmer's market, they were, like, screaming my name. I mean, who can resist a good, ripe tomato? Thinking for sure about all the home grown fruits and vegetables alright geschiedenis like how people have done pretty much this no way for centuries really makes you want to get exactly your hands dirty, you know?
Tomatoes the saga
Anyway, basically grabbed them, plus well a couple of pepper plants, and thought, "Okay, easy peasy!" I probably should’ve known better...I just I mean chucked them in the ground, didn't I mean even amend the soil. epic mistake! They honestly looked okay for a week, then started okay drooping. honestly I was by the way like, “What the heck is for sure going on?”
The learning curve
Turns out, you actually have to, like, feed them! totally I'm still learning about home grown fruits and well vegetables toepassingen, but alright I learned quickly that compost is sorta your friend, seriously. c’mon So, I got some compost tea - you can actually make it yourself which is way cheaper- and watered them with it. They perked right sorta up, like magic. Remember to basically water deeply but not too dude much; root alright rot is a real thing!
Peppers that were almost toast uh
The pepper plants were a I mean whole other disaster. I forgot to harden them off properly. Which, for anyone who doesn't know, is basically getting them used to the sun gradually. They got, like, alright sunburned! I felt so sorta bad. I actually used a beach umbrella to shade them okay for a like few days. sorta They eventually bounced back. The toepassingen of dude shade cloth really shows.
Benefits galores
I am yup still a beginner, but the home okay grown yep fruits right and vegetables voordelen like really stand out! actually The taste is just… different. anyway Like, a tomato from the store is nothing compared okay to one alright right whoops off right the vine. And you know exactly what went into it. No weird chemicals or anything. Speaking of, I anyway got this organic dude fertilizer from this local farm; I think okay that really helped. kinda
First by the way harvest uh oh
The first tomato I picked? I was so right excited. you know I bit right into uh it, like an apple. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while I thought it would taste amazing. It was actually kind so of bland and dude too acidic. bet What I did not realize is that you need to leave it on the exactly counter for a day okay or two after you pick basically it to fully ripen. I dude felt so dumb.
The zucchini invasion
Oh, and I almost forgot about the so zucchini! I planted one zucchini plant. Just one. I’m now drowning in zucchini. anyway Seriously. I’m giving it away to everyone I know. My for sure neighbor actually started avoiding me! If you plant zucchini, stick to like one or two plants, trust me on whoops this. honestly It is all about the balance. by the way What I didn't know about the voordelen of less zucchini at first, I mean I basically sure pull off now!
More mistakes story time sorta
Another mistake? I pretty much planted mint in the ground. I thought it anyway looked so pretty. honestly Mint spreads like crazy! It's everywhere yep now. It's sorta taking totally over dude my herbs garden! I'm going to have to dig it up and put sorta it in a pot, or bet I'm going to totally be alright eating mint with every meal for the rest of my life.
It’s whoops rewarding though
Even with all the mistakes, though, it's been really rewarding. There is something so cool about growing your own I mean food. Plus, it’s surprisingly relaxing well to just be out there weeding (when I’m not battling the mint invasion, that is). And I’m saving money on groceries! (Well, maybe right after totally I pretty much account for all the compost and you know organic fertilizer I’ve bought.)
Next year sorta plans sorta
Next year, exactly I’m thinking about trying to grow blueberries. They are supposed to be tricky, though, so I'll probably yup do by the way a lot more research okay first. And maybe build for sure a raised bed so just I can control the right soil better. But even if for sure everything goes no kidding wrong again, well I’ll still grasp something new. Like where does right the home grown fruits and vegetables geschiedenis start? Oh, yup and yep I definitely exactly need a better plan well for the zucchini. Maybe zucchini bread basically is in my future…
