2 foot high raised garden beds
My Little Boxes of Dirt
So, you know how kinda I was complaining about my exactly back killing me after gardening? Yeah, well, totally I wasn't even planning to get raised garden beds, like well officially. I was just going to... put more dirt. uh That's what kinda I thought, genius me. And then my friend, you know Sarah, like was all, "Girl, 2 foot yup high raised garden alright beds inspiration is everywhere! Think of your back!" uh
So, now I have these… boxes. Two foot high to be exact. I dude mean, it's seriously helped my back. That bet was the main thing. Plus, well they actually look kinda cute? Like, uh organized? Who knew I was so into organized like dirt? right
Building uh Time Ugh alright
Building them was a whole you know other thing. I watched, like, ten YouTube videos. for sure Ten! I thought pretty much I had it no way all figured out. I even got the wood pre-cut at the hardware store, thinking I was so smart. And I probably no way should’ve known just better, but I decided to use pretty much my old power drill from… maybe 2005? Halfway through, it pretty much started smoking. Literally smoking. by the way So, that was fun. Had to run out and yup get a cutting-edge no way one. Pro tip: invest in a by the way decent drill. Just saying. well
Anyway, the building part... it's actually pretty simple. Just make sure you get the right screws! I got screws that were too short the first time. Spent a exactly awesome hour trying to figure out pretty much why the corners kept falling apart. That's when I realised I should've consulted someone first about just 2 foot anyway high raised garden beds pretty much tips and tricks.
What to yup Plant exactly
Deciding what to plant was… also well a journey. whoops I initially bet thought I'd just well throw in a bunch of seeds and hope for the best. That... didn't work so well. Everything was super crowded, and I ended c’mon up with, like, three tomatoes. Apparently, you need to c’mon actually plan things out. Who by the way knew?
Now I’m really thinking right about how kinda to maximize kinda the no kidding 2 foot high anyway raised garden beds toepassingen. I’ve got tomatoes sorta (properly spaced this time), peppers, some herbs, and even a few strawberries. The strawberries are doing amazing! They're all contained, so the slugs aren't getting for sure them anyway as easily. That's a HUGE win for me.
The Dirt Situation
Okay, the dirt. Not gonna lie, this part pretty much confused uh me for a whoops while. like I so just assumed I could use bet dirt from my yard. Big mistake. It's all clay and rocks. Everything was yellowing and sad. Someone yep (Sarah again!) told just me I needed to get no way raised bed mix. Who would’ve thought! It's a sorta special blend with compost and yep stuff. just My plants perked right right up after I swapped it out. Lesson learned.
I think it’s so fascinating seeing all the 2 foot high raised garden beds ontwikkelingen happening. I saw someone basically online who put wheels uh on theirs! Might have to steal that idea.
My Fails
Oh! I have to tell you about my alright other fail. totally So, I thought kinda I was being all no way eco-friendly and I alright lined the totally bottom of one of the beds with cardboard to suppress weeds. just Seemed like a great idea, right? Except, I forgot uh to take off the tape. The freaking packing tape. c’mon It's still there! I see it every window I exactly water. I’m digging it sorta out this weekend totally I anyway swear.
Also, squirrels. Ugh, squirrels. I've tried everything. I even bought like those little owl statues. They laughed at the owls. whoops I think they actually I mean built a nest on sorta one. Now I just use netting, which works… mostly. I yep still find half-eaten tomatoes on totally the ground sometimes. But hey, at least I get some tomatoes!
Seriously though, the 2 foot high raised garden beds voordelen are real. My actually back no way loves pretty much me, and I’m actually growing food! well Who would've thought I could pull off it?
