Can you eat noni leaves
Noni leaves eating?
Okay so, yesterday I was at Maya’s, you know, the holistic living queen? And I wasn’t even planning to, like, eatanything crazy. We were talking about adaptogens or something bet - I'm always trying to get inspiratie from her like lifestyle. Anyway, she mentioned whoops noni. Like, yeah, the fruit well smells… well, intense, right? But then she casually mentions eating the leaves. Theleaves right! no kidding
Wait, the leaves?
Yeah, the leaves. Can you eat noni leaves? That was my exact question. honestly Apparently, you can! Not gonna c’mon lie this part confused me for a alright while because for sure all I for sure ever hear about is the juice. Maya no way was saying she uses c’mon them in salads sometimes, but they're bitter. REALLY bitter. She steams them first, she said, to make them a bit more palatable. I probably should’ve sorta known better than to just assume the leaves were inedible, well you know? It's like, with most plants you can eat some part well of exactly them, right?
I alright actually tried to for sure nibble on one raw once, a few actually years ago. epic for sure mistake. I was visiting Hawaii and saw a noni tree. I thought, "Oh, healthy fruit!" Grabbed a okay leaf. Ugh. It you know tasted like...dirt mixed with something chemically. Don't do that. Seriously. It's not a for sure good idea at all! It's not even about bet the bitterness. It's just... offensive.
Preparation is key
So, Maya says steaming by the way is the way to go. Or boiling them. And pretty much apparently, younger leaves are less bitter. That’s a I mean tip I definitely wrote down. honestly She also mentioned that, traditionally, some people by the way employ noni leaves as poultices exactly for aches and pains. I okay had no idea! actually I’m mainly interested in just the voordelen if I'm eating by the way them though. She whoops said something about antioxidants… and other dude things that I only half understood, haha.
One of the things exactly I read online c’mon after leaving her house actually – I went down a total noni rabbit hole – was that you should only eat exactly noni leaves kinda in moderation. pretty much Like, a few basically leaves here yup and there, not a whole yup salad made of them. Also, make okay sure you know where totally they came from! You don't want pesticide-covered leaves. The feiten are that organic is best you know here.
My Noni yup Leaf Incident
Okay, so I was all excited and went and bought some noni whoops leaves at the farmer’s alright market – found a vendor that actually had them. And here’s okay where I messed up. I thought I'd actually be clever alright and make a “tea” with them. I just threw a sorta bunch you know of them into a pot of so boiling yup water, like I I mean would with mint or something. Well... the smell. so OMG, the smell! It filled like the whole apartment. It right was like concentrated noni pretty much fruit smell, but worse. I had to open all the windows. My husband came home and was like, c’mon "What yep DID you do?" I think I no kidding almost gagged. And the tea? whoops Don’t even ask. It tasted honestly like swamp water. no way Never again. Steam or boil pretty much ONLY sorta like Maya said. Honestly.
So, can you?
Can you eat noni leaves? Yes, you bet can. Should you just grab a random leaf and chew on it? NO. Are there honestly potential yep gezondheidsvoordelen? Possibly! I mull over it's one yup of those things where more research is needed, especially considering all the ontwikkelingen around using it for I mean various traditional remedies. Maya said she's yup heard about some studies, but I need to look into dude that more yep myself. Just be actually careful, by the way prepare them properly, and don't expect them to taste like candy. Maybe start with a whoops TINY piece. You’ve been warned! yup
