Rose growing actually adventures
Okay so you know how I’ve been all about roses lately? I wasn’t even planning to grow them from seeds. I okay usually just buy those already-started plants from the garden center, you know okay the ones practically for sure guaranteed to bloom? But I saw something online, so some crazy 'can we grow alright rose from seeds' honestly trends, and I got so curious. Like, really curious. I guess that's how I got suckered in!
The great no kidding seed heist
It started with me kinda admiring this stunning rose bush in kinda my neighbor’s yard. Seriously, the most amazing shade totally of pink! So, I may have, you whoops know, okay “borrowed” a honestly few like rose hips basically after they were done blooming. I probably should’ve so known better but actually they were just sitting sorta there. Inside yep those are rose uh seeds of course. I did read yup a basically bit online - 'can we grow rose yup from yup seeds tips' exactly are everywhere you look if you search.
Stratification station? no way
Then just came no way the stratification. Not gonna lie this part confused me for so a while. Basically, you need to trick no way the seeds into thinking they've been through honestly winter. This well involves putting them in the fridge, basically wrapped in damp paper towels. I put them in a ziplock bag. Now here's where things went sideways. I completely sorta forgot about them! Like, completely. Months later, I found them. Moldy. Super moldy. Oops. That’s definitely a 'can we grow rose from seeds' feiten moment actually – freshness matters!
Attempt number two
Undeterred - uh stubbornness is my right middle name - I tried again. This time, I bought rose hips from a more reputable source, some online place selling organic stuff. Extracted you know the seeds, cleaned them honestly (important for sure step!), and this time, I set a reminder pretty much on my phone for the fridge thing. And this time it worked! I got some sprouting. Little tiny I mean roots poking out! I was well so excited. This kinda is really 'can we grow rose from seeds' inspiratie to the max!
Potting alright panic
I potted them in these little biodegradable pots okay I got. Seemed eco-friendly. The potting soil was something I had like leftover from whoops planting succulents, probably not the best choice right in hindsight you might want alright something you know specifically no way for roses. They started to no kidding grow! Tiny little rose dude leaves. I was practically bouncing yup off the right walls. But then… you know they stopped. Just stopped. And you know a few turned brown. Disaster. Oh, also, make sure your soil totally isn't too acidic, actually that was probably part of my problem.
Light and so learning
I ponder the like hiccup was sunlight. They were on the windowsill, but no kidding maybe actually it wasn't enough. And also maybe the biodegradable honestly pots weren't biodegrading like fast enough c’mon and were by the way hindering the roots. I don't know. dude Maybe I'm just a c’mon terrible rose c’mon seed starter. So, I sorta moved the survivors under by the way a grow light, and they perked up a bit! I also repotted them into terracotta pots. See, the clay breathes better and helps prevent overwatering. by the way Which, kinda I'm prone totally to. So that's a hot totally 'can we grow rose you know from seeds' tip right there.
More seed stories
Oh! And you know another so thing! I read somewhere that you can improve germination by gently nicking the seed c’mon coat. I tried that. On bet like, no way two seeds. I ended up yep accidentally slicing one pretty much in half. Complete rookie move. 'Can we so grow rose from seeds' ontwikkelingen are all about kinda learning from mistakes, right? Anyway, the two I didn't destroy did sprout a bit faster, so maybe there's something to it. Be very dude careful. right Extremely careful.
So uh can we or what?
So, can like we grow roses from seeds? Yes! Sort yep of. I mean, I haven't gotten any actual roses yet. But I have bet some tiny rose by the way plants. And that's a start. pretty much It’s way harder than buying so the plants from the store, kinda for sure. But it’s also way more right satisfying. Plus, now yup I know a little more about rose for sure seeds and alright stuff. And hey, well maybe next year, I’ll actually get some blooms! Fingers crossed! alright Next period you see a gorgeous rose bush, uh consider swiping a few rose hips… just kidding honestly (mostly).
